The Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC) is a two-day educational experience focused on care of the trauma patient during initial resuscitation and transport. Employing didactic and practical methods of learning will allow you to:
- Describe the professional responsibilities associated with patient transport.
- Identify the importance of early recognition of high-risk trauma patients.
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary for the assessment and management of the multiple trauma victim in the field and interfacility settings.
- List management priorities in care of the multiple trauma victim.
NOTE: TPATC does not certify any person to perform skills or procedures taught in the course. Verification will be valid for four years*.

What Topics Are For Me, the Transport Professional?
The didactic portion of the course (completed online prior to course attendance) is designed to enhance cognitive knowledge of the pathophysiology, assessment, and management of trauma.

What Are the Teaching Methods?
This is a hybrid course. All TPATC didactic lectures must be completed online before attending the course. Proof of completion is required upon course check-in.
The practical portion of the course includes skills stations on invasive procedures, airway management, scenarios, and patient assessments. In addition, the course includes various review sessions, safety scenarios, and a practical and written exam. All content is taught by qualified, trained transport professional instructors.
DISCLAIMER: TPATC is a two-day advanced trauma professional course open to all transport personnel who provide direct patient care during ground or air transport. A minimum of six months of transport experience is recommended prior to enrolling in a TPATC. Achieving TPATC provider status requires preparation and study, as well as documented completion of the Online TPATC lectures. ASTNA is committed to providing these materials no later than 30 days prior to the course. Students enrolling in TPATC with less than 6 weeks' notice may not receive course materials in time to prepare adequately. All course participants receive continuing education contact hours.
*There is a six-month grace period from the time your provider status expires before you need to re-verify. Reverification can be done through the Online TPATC or through the two-day TPATC.
