BCEN Scholarship

An Investment in the Future of Nursing

Whether you provide care on the ground or in the air, your commitment to excellence in transport nursing makes a difference every day. That’s why the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN®) has contributed $35,000 to support the academic goals of ASTNA members who hold CFRN® or CTRN® certification.

These scholarships are designed to support transport clinicians who are advancing their education and strengthening the specialty's future through continued professional growth.

Scholarships are available to ASTNA members pursuing undergraduate and graduate nursing degrees, as well as to EMTs and paramedics working toward registered nurse licensure.

Scholarship Opportunities

Applicants may apply for one of the following awards:

• Six (6) $2,500 scholarships for CFRN® or CTRN® nurses pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Four (4) $2,500 scholarships for CFRN® or CTRN® nurses pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
• One (1) $5,000 scholarship for a CFRN® or CTRN® nurse pursuing a doctoral degree (DNP or PhD)
• Two (2) $2,500 scholarships for EMTs or paramedics who are ASTNA members pursuing a Registered Nurse degree

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Be a current ASTNA member at the time of application and throughout the scholarship period
• Hold a current CFRN® or CTRN® certification (except EMT/Paramedic-to-RN applicants)
• Be actively involved in the transport industry and/or nursing specialty
• Be enrolled in, or accepted to, an eligible academic program

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit the following:

• Essay (should address)

  • Your professional goals and the role you hope to hold after completing your education
  • How do you advocate for and promote the value of CFRN® or CTRN® certification
  • Your involvement in transport medicine and/or nursing practice

• Current Curriculum Vitae (CV)
