Fixed Wing Medical Transport 2020

Fixed-Wing transport continues to grow worldwide. It is crucial that there is a clear understanding of the main differences between rotor and fixed wing transports. Both methods of air transport have their advantages, but sometimes these advantages aren’t often discussed or talked about. With Fixed-Wing transports it is important that teams have a strong understanding of flight physiology prior to even stepping foot on to an Air-Ambulance. There are multiple in-flight altitude considerations in the industry that can lead to medical emergencies if not acknowledged or understood prior to moving patients. Aside from medical and altitude considerations there are multiple fatigue issues surrounding Fixed-Wing transport as well. As we continue to grow and push for more regulation and duty times, it is important to understand what all these stressors are in the fixed-wing industry. In-closing we are all very well versed on Covid-19 at this point in time, but we can still discuss the PPE and proper precaution for transport of these patients that are symptomatic and asymptomatic”.
